The project for operating a Lidar Alexandrine at La Paz, Bolivia (LIPAZ project), has held important advances since the last Workshop of the ALINE network. The instrument, refurnished and donated by the ESA, has been installed at La Paz (16.5°S, 68.1°W, 3420 m asl) and it started to operate in late 2006, after fixing some technical problems. Its main objective is to monitor aerosols at a high altitude location, especially in the dry season when plumes from Amazon fires used to arrive to the Altiplano region. In this paper we show the advances of the LIPAZ project.
